Common Pleas

The Sheriff is mandated by South Carolina law to serve the process of the court. The Horry County Sheriff's Office takes this responsibility very seriously and takes pride in the service our deputies provide.

The Sheriff's Office serves all civil court papers for Horry County received from any court of record to include all Magistrate Courts, Common Pleas, Master-in-Equity, and Family Court.

The Horry County Sheriff’s Office processes and serves between 35,000 to 40,000 papers each year.
Deputies serving Civil Process papers are uniformed and easily identified.

Private process servers are not employed by the Horry County Sheriff's Office and drive unmarked vehicles.

If you have new information regarding a family court paper, contact Administrative Assistant Christy Cox by email at or by phone at 843-915-8055.
Please include defendant’s name, case number and court date in your message.
