The Classification Division is responsible for the maintenance of all inmate files throughout their incarceration and has a permanent record of each inmate's stay at the Detention Center. All time credits are calculated and placed in the inmate's file along with court documents, disciplinary forms and any other data accumulated during the inmate's incarceration. The Classification Division assesses each inmate in the Detention Center to determine their custody levels. They continually assess each inmate as incidents occur that may change their custody level. The Housing Unit Managers and Population Control Specialist are also assigned to the division.
Housing Unit Managers:
Unit managers are responsible for the welfare of inmates and security of several housing units. They coordinate multiple housing units in a multidisciplinary fashion. A unit manager's responsibilities include coordination of inmate classification, unit programming, inmate disciplinary issues, physical facility, equipment and operations. They manage a caseload of inmates that includes assisting each inmate in coping with day-to-day needs and concerns relative to living in a correctional environment. Also, they act as a liaison between the court system and the Detention Center and manage tasks involving court paperwork issues, attorney visits and General Sessions court.
